Placing a bulk custom apparel order for hundreds or thousands of garments represents a substantial financial and brand investment. Whether you are equipping an entire company workforce, supplying a major charity marathon, or stocking a nationwide retail drop, proper advance preparation ensures your project ships on schedule, on budget, and up to exacting quality standards.
1. Prepare Production Ready Vector Artwork
The number one cause of production delays is unusable artwork files. Low resolution web screenshots, JPEGs copied from email signatures, or compressed mobile images will appear pixelated and blurry when scaled up to fit across the chest of an XL garment.
- Always submit native vector files: Adobe Illustrator (.AI), Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG), or vectorized (.EPS) files.
- Convert all text fonts to outlines: This prevents font substitution errors when files are opened on production workstations.
- For raster artwork and photographic art: Supply uncompressed PNG or TIFF files at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI scaled at actual print size with transparent backgrounds.
2. Specify Exact Pantone Colors (PMS)
Colors look completely different on computer monitors, smartphones, and printed fabrics due to screen calibration variations and RGB to CMYK color gamuts. If your corporate brand guidelines mandate a specific shade of navy, gold, or crimson, always specify the Pantone Matching System (PMS Solid Coated) color code.
Our workshop ink mixing team formulates custom plastisol and water based inks to match designated Pantone standards, ensuring brand color consistency across repeat orders.
Remember that the background color of the garment impacts ink perception. Printing on black or heather charcoal fabrics requires a solid white underbase flash to preserve true color luminosity.
3. Build a Realistic Production and Delivery Timeline
Custom apparel manufacturing consists of multiple chronological stages: blank garment allocation, artwork digital pre press proofing, screen burning or embroidery digitizing, test print approval, bulk decoration, drying/finishing, quality assurance inspection, and freight transit.
While rush turnaround is available for urgent events, standard bulk production typically requires 5 to 10 business days following digital proof approval. Always plan your project timeline backward from your firm in hand event date.
4. Request and Approve a Pre Production Proof
Never skip the proofing stage. At Fabby Stitch, we provide a digital rendering showing exact logo placement coordinates, dimensions in inches, pantone swatches, and garment mockups before any machinery begins running. Review this document carefully for typos, alignment, and scale.
